Guide to accessing e-Books
Dear Parent/Guardian,
The individual publishers usually provide students with the option to access their school books as eBooks on PC/Laptop/iPad/Android Tablet.
Each Book Publisher (Folens, Edco, Gill, Mentor, CJ Fallon) has their own methods so it’s not possible to list all of the steps here for all the publishers.
However, there are some common steps which you need to be aware of.
- Go to the Publisher Website
Each book will have the publisher’s name on it. The 4 main ones are below. Inside the cover of the books there are usually instructions on the steps to follow also.
http://www.mentorbooks.ie/ebooks.aspx
https://www.folensonline.ie/registration/
https://www.gilleducation.ie/registration
- Register to set up an account
Click “REGISTER” to set up an account. I highly recommend setting up the account for your son/daughter with the username as their school email address and password the same. This means there are less passwords to remember.
- Use the Code on the book
On the inside of the book there is usually a silver “scratch” surface that you can scratch off with a coin. This will give you the code for the book. Each textbook will have its own individual code.
- Enter the code on the website to activate the book
There is usually a place on the website to activate the book and link it to your account.
- Download the App
If you are using a tablet or iPad go to the App Store or Play Store to download the app for that publisher.
- Log in and Activate books
When the app is downloaded you can log in with your username and password and download your books.
- Using Laptop/PC
If you are using a laptop or PC then you can just use the publisher’s website to view the books.
Students have a lot of books and in the current circumstances may find themselves at home without some of their textbooks. For these reasons, it is a suggestion from the school that the way forward might be that they have access to the books at home via the eBook on a device and that they then can leave their hardcopy book in the school which saves carrying back and forth.
Should you have any queries about the technical side of the eBooks please do not hesitate to contact the school ([email protected]) and we will try our best to help.
Kind Regards,
