{"id":3610,"date":"2020-09-22T16:45:37","date_gmt":"2020-09-22T15:45:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/presentationcollege.ie\/?page_id=3610"},"modified":"2023-06-07T13:11:50","modified_gmt":"2023-06-07T12:11:50","slug":"ebooks","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/presentationcollege.ie\/ebooks\/","title":{"rendered":"e-Books"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_medium\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols type_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column \"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<h5><strong>Guide to accessing e-Books <\/strong><em>(not applicable to 1st years 2023\/24)<\/em><\/h5>\n<p>The individual publishers usually provide students with the option to access their school books as eBooks on PC\/Laptop\/iPad\/Android Tablet.<\/p>\n<p>Each Book Publisher (Folens, Edco, Gill, Mentor, CJ Fallon, Educate.ie) has their own methods so it\u2019s not possible to list all of the steps here for all the publishers.<\/p>\n<p>However, there are some common steps which you need to be aware of.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Go to the Publisher Website<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each book will have the publisher\u2019s name on it. The six main ones are below. Inside the cover of the books there are usually instructions on the steps to follow also.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Edco<\/li>\n<li>Mentor<\/li>\n<li>Folens<\/li>\n<li>Gill<\/li>\n<li>CJ Fallon<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/ebooks.educate.ie\/user\/register\">Educate.ie<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2. Register to set up an account<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Click \u201cREGISTER\u201d to set up an account. I highly recommend setting up the account for your son\/daughter with the username as their school email address and password the same. This means there are less passwords to remember.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Use the Code on the book<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the inside of the book there is usually a silver \u201cscratch\u201d surface that you can scratch off with a coin. This will give you the code for the book. Each textbook will have its own individual code.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Enter the code on the website to activate the book<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is usually a place on the website to activate the book and link it to your account.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Download the App<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are using a tablet or iPad go to the App Store or Play Store to download the app for that publisher.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Log in and Activate books<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When the app is downloaded you can log in with your username and password and download your books.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Using Laptop\/PC\/tablet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are using a laptop or PC then you can just use the publisher\u2019s website to view the books.<\/p>\n<p>For 2nd year students 2023-24, e-books must be downloaded onto their school iPad. <strong>For incoming 1st year students 2023\/23, students <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">don&#8217;t have physical books<\/span>, just e-books purchased from Wriggle with their iPad.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Should you have any queries about the technical side of the eBooks please do not hesitate to contact the school (<a href=\"mailto:info@pct.cdetb.ie\">info@pcc.cdetb.ie<\/a>) and we will try our best to help.
